Brethren Movement Around the World
The Brethren movement was started in the early part of 19th Century in Dublin. During the beginning of 19th Century, the Holy spirit revealed the real Biblical truth and the worship pattern.
Around the same time, a similar movement started in Plymouth, England. A sudden revival took place in many parts of the world. Members of such gatherings were those who had been born-again and had the desire to worship the Lord according to true Biblical principles.
Moreover, those who accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and Lord, were baptized according the public confession of their faith in Lord Jesus.
Bible says in Matthew 28:19 ” Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them ( i.e. all those who accept Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and Lord) in the name of the Father , and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”.
Prior to the death of Jesus Christ on the cross, he instituted the commandment to Remember Him through the ministry of the Lord’s Table (also called the Lord Supper or Holy Communion). Mark 14:22-24, Matthew 26: 26-28 and 1 Corinthians 11: 23-25.
Hence Brethren Churches are a group of Born Again believers, who strictly follow Biblical doctrine, are baptised on the confession of their faith in the saving grace of Lord Jesus and partake of the Table of Remembrance by meeting together every Sunday (Lord’s day).
Each Brethren Church is an independent body of Christ (Local Church) and is not under any other church with it’s head as the Lord Jesus Christ. A group of Elders and Deacons within the church lead and administer the Church.
