The curriculum followed is the Brethren Assembly Sunday School curriculum developed by the Pathanamthitta Suvishealeyam. It is one of the best teaching material that is currently available for teaching basic and theological aspects from the Word of God to the next generation.
One of the key ministries of the Assembly is the ministry of teaching the Word of God to children of the assembly and guest children .
Following in the legacy of Robert Raikes and Thomas Stock who first established Sunday School ministry in Gloucester in 1780, the Assembly as a whole has a keen focus on equipping the children with the Word of God and establishing them in the faith. The curriculum followed is the Brethren Assembly Sunday School curriculum developed by the Pathanamthitta Suvishealeyam. It is one of the best teaching material that is currently available for teaching basic and theological aspects from the Word of God to the next generation.
In 1995 when BBAK was formed, it was decided by the oversight to setup a Sunday School ministry as part of it’s immediate spiritual activities. Bro. C O Samkutty was appointed as the Headmaster and with a set of teachers the ministry was established. Since then till now the Sunday School ministry continues with a good strength of around 50 students or more and has classes from Pre-School till Class 12.
In 1996 BBAK also developed a special visual based teaching material and supporting children’s material for Pre-schoolers since this was missing from the Brethren Assembly Sunday School curriculum.
Over the years many who have served as Headmasters, Assistant Headmasters and teachers have retired and moved back to their homeland or migrated to other countries, but this ministry continues by the grace of God and is a shining light in establishing children in the Word of God.
Brothers C O Samkutty, Georgie Mammen, George Varghese, Sam Kuruvilla, Thomas Abraham, Lalu George, Samuel Mathew, Shaji Cherian John, Shaji Mathew, Shaibu K S, Rejoy Sam, Jacob Chacko have served as Headmasters and Assistant Headmasters during the past years.

A normal Sunday School program is as follows:
Children are taught good meaningful Christian songsand it is led by able teachers along with instrumentalists. Children are also encouraged to participate in playing instruments. The singing time is followed by a short time of devotion that focuses on the theme of the Sunday School for the year. Students are grouped into classes by school year and teachers teach them from their relevant curriculum.
The last half hour of each Sunday School week is set apart for an activity time. To make the time fun and exciting, the students are divided into two teams where they compete with each other doing different activities/games. Juniors (Pre-school till Class 2) have their own game time and older children have games that are more relevant to their age group.
The Sunday School also conducts various competitions like Memory verse recitation, Bible Quick Reference, Story telling, Bible Quiz, Presentation, Elocution to develop the talents of the children and also develop them holistically including development of public speaking skills.
The Sunday School calendar year is from Sept to May and is divided into three terms and at the end of each term there is a scripture test to evaluate the students’ knowledge of the portions that have been taught.
The Sunday School also organizes an annual picnic time which is a very much anticipated by the Students and parents. Various Retreats, special Bible Classes and devotion times are also organized by the Sunday School and sometimes eminent servants of the Lord are invited to speak at these meetings.
The Sunday School year ends with a grand finale conducted as an Annual Day usually held in May. It’s a time where children put up various programs that are presented to the parents and assembly members.
During the past years, the Sunday School year also consists of a theme that focusses the children on one particular overall aspect of a believer’s life. Past themes have been – Excited for God, Armoured for God, Prayer Warrior, etc. Common devotion times are based on this main theme and the Annual day is also based on this theme.
